On December 1st released a mixpack from Sigtuna Brygghus. Mixpacket contained four different types of IPA, IPA Session (low alcohol IPA), Red IPA, Black IPA and DIPA. I've tried the beer in recent weeks and below you will find both info and my opinion.
Note: SIGTUNA SESSION IPA has an alcohol content of 4% and is brewed pilsner malt and caramel malt and hops of the variety Nelson Sauvin. The taste is light and fresh with hints of gooseberry, citrus and sour fruits. Sigtuna Session IPA fits with its light crispy taste excellent to sillunchen as well as a social drink.
Comment: Humlig ely scent that draws ate grass and dill, then where that beer can smell when the newly torrhumlats. A bit like running nose in a hop bag. The taste is cleaner and tighten gooseberry and similar berry fruits. Bitterness is present ely but easy. A rather nice beer even though I was bothering me a bit on the scent.
Note: SIGTUNA RED IPA, spicy flavor and marked ely bitter and therefore fits best in a smoky pub to a juicy burger or fatty ribs. The beer has an alcohol content of 5.9% and is brewed in caramel ely malt and pilsner malt and a small amount of black malt. Hops Nelson Sauvin, Mouteka and Chinook and contribute to beer's flavor of black pepper, resin and pine needles.
Comment: Relatively mild fragrance, but when I swirl the liquid in the glass so look it up both hops and a light karamellig malt. Hops aroma attracts more attention than pine citrus although ely citrus is there, I will also find a peppery flavor (it is rye in this? No, apparently not as described I found out later). The taste is well balanced, the caramel malt base receives the most space but it will share space with fruity hop aroma that has hints of both citrus and pine needles. Bitterness is there but is not excessive. A well-built beer with good balance.
Note: SIGTUNA BLACK IPA is the full-bodied thirst saver that makes itself at its best during the coldest months. The taste is strong with both roasted notes of coffee, and more tropical hints of pineapple, mango and guava. Sigtuna Black IPA has an alcohol content of 6.6% and is brewed on black malt with hints of caramel malt and pilsner malt. Hops are varieties Citra, Galaxy ely and Simcoe and contributes ely to the fresh taste of lemon.
Comment: The scent is very clean and fresh with clear hints of citrus and pine needles. The hops are in focus even in the taste but then sneaks a certain dark malty aroma in the background. The dark bitter chocolate and hard toast. Bitterness is long but not too dominant, balanced's the word I'm looking for. It is clearly hops with the greatest space but the dark malt gives the beer an extra dimension. A very good copy Black IPA.
Note: SIGTUNA DIPA is a double IPA with strong flavor of citrus, pine needles, buckling and grapefruit. The beer is brewed pilsner malt and a dash of caramel malt and hops varieties Columbus, Cascade and Centennial. With its 8% is Sigtuna DIPA the alcohol strongest beer in the collection. The beer is spicy and flavorful and ideally suit a late dinner with old friends and good memories.
Comment: To go directly from Black IPA: n this got me first to discover the caramel on the nose. The hops are not nearly as clear as BIPA set but there is a certain grape and citrus tone there. Although the taste is restrained hops instead it is the malt that takes space with a rich sugary sweetness, caramel and dried fruit. Bitterness hidden enough of sweetness but there is some bitterness in the finish which is only visible after a few seconds. This is not a bad beer, really, it is excellent to drink but it is DIPA on flas
