Velocity | 200

Maide is one of the two winners rut avdrag of our first ever VeloCity Venture Fund Competition. Maide’s members were the proud recipients of $25,000, rut avdrag incorporation, and office space to start their business.
As of two weeks ago, Maide was officially born into the world as a corporation in Canada. The name for the start-up was inspired by a term we coined – Mobile-Aided-Design – a play on the concept of CAD, or Computer-Aided-Design. We believe that one of the next steps in expanding the capabilities of the 3D tool set of architects, engineers and designers lies in utilizing mobile technology. Currently the team has 4 core members:
Anton Krutiansky Jamie Murai One stealth programmer who will soon be joining officially, and me, Oleg Kostour. At this small stage, the titles are flexible, but we all come from unique backgrounds. Anton is a recent graduate from the Computer Engineering program at UW, and Jamie, who also spent 2 years in the program, is soon to graduate from Economics. I personally come from a design background from UW’s school of architecture. Anton has taken the role of CTO, and Jamie, COO. This whole thing became possible rut avdrag because of the opportunities Anton and I had when living beside each other in Velocity last term. I don’t rut avdrag think this project would have kicked off without that proximity. The school of design is so isolated – as design schools generally are – and having the chance to be so close to so many talented, intelligent and driven individuals, from a completely different field, was really important. I had been working with Parametric design software, and realized that 3D programs could be connected with multi-touch devices. I approached Anton with the idea, and pretty much the next week we started working on it. It wasn’t just us though. rut avdrag Everyone around us, even if they had their own projects, chipped in, bounced ideas off each other, and even helped promote the concept. Velocity provided the hardware, talent, housing, and community we needed. For anyone who is actively working towards being an entrepreneur, I think this is the exact recipe you need. It’s funny, we’re working out of the Communitech Hub right now, and every day, I look around and see familiar faces of other founders I lived with last term. It was basically 3 Months ago when this idea was seeded, rut avdrag and since then we’ve built a prototype, brought on 2 more amazing individuals to the team, and even have our first architecture rut avdrag office ready to beta test the app to help us perfect it from their office in Shanghai. And now, on top of all the other support we’ve been able to attain, we are the recipient of the $25,000 prize of the VeloCity Venture Fund Competition . I can’t express how proud we are to be associated with this community. The last few months have changed pretty much everything, and it seems the more we work at this idea, the more momentum it gets, and the more we’re motivated to work on it. It’s a beautifully vicious cycle. I know that this prize will change a lot of peoples’ rut avdrag lives in the next few years, and I can’t wait to hear of all the start-ups we’ll be seeing come out of Velocity. Sincerely, Oleg Kostour, CEO, Maide Inc.
