With our lease expiring soon, my roommates and I sat down and discussed the maid what we saw happening. We all felt that we have a great house in a great location, we all come together nicely, and we do not mind being where we are (moving is a hassle). For me, this is my first time since college the maid staying in a house / apartment for longer than one year (except for the time that I lived with Emily for 21 months: D). And with the knowledge that we are going to stay, I decided to solve some internal projects that we had been putting out. It started last week with laundry room, or rather catch-all space. A few months ago, took Mariss a washer and dryer, given to us by Ian Roberts. It was all fine and dandy, but the problem was that our laundry room was so full of junk / crap that we can not even use the machines because we could not get to them. Finally fed up with washing machine Mariss and I bought a shelf to mount over machines for all our should-be-in-store junk. A month later, and the shelf was still propped against the wall in the kitchen waiting to be set up. Last weekend, after confirming that we all agree to stay lit Katie a fire under our butts by dropping the bomb, \ "My mother is coming to visit for 2 weeks. \" EEP! The house was NOT parent ready. So Katie and I, in an exciting Friday night completely empty laundry (except for machines), get out the ladder and FINALLY mounted shelf. We both went through everything to decide what would stay and what would go and how to Tetris-like set it aside. Before you see in the picture the maid of the laundry room below, I would like to stress that there was not a single square feet of open floor space before. And both bikes were on the ground actually make the entire room unusable. (Ta da?) My second idea / project was to get a bike rack so we could keep both bikes indoors, but still need the narrow walkway. It was much easier said than done. I overestimated the height (width?) In the picture rail and bike rack that I bought was either moot or should be screwed into the board. Considering our house was built in 1915 and how many questions we had hanging art in the living the maid room, it was pretty the maid clear that I had to nix bike rack idea. Until I had an ah-ha moment. If only the picture rail were higher (greater?)! I was digging through our garbage timber pile at work and came across a small piece that I could probably use, so I went to Target and got some no-slip spacers (usually used for under furniture, I think). I painted the wood white, fixed spacers and wood glued that thing on the wall. Followed all the screws, and I do not think it happens everywhere. And since we now have additional storage in the laundry room, I was able to clean out a lot of things the maid from my closet. This of course meant that \ "Hey, I already clean it out, I might as well go through and donate clothes I'm not wearing anything more. \" When I started in the closet, the maid I did not have any extra hangers and all was pushed on the shelves. (The other half of the closet is just hanging clothes and a litter box [and air purifier] on the floor, there is nothing exciting.) And, you know, since I was cleaning things out I decided to go through the fridge, too. I decided to get rid of expired food and debris. I'll give you one guess which shelf is mine. To be fair, I made a pizza with the about-to-go-bad veggies, so now I have wrapped up pizza for lunch tomorrow on the shelf. And finally, my pile of stuff to donate: I also realized that I do not think I ever did a follow up on my bathroom ideas. What I thought at first, never really panned out. I painted the bathroom the maid a light blue and it really made it look so much cleaner. So where was I? Laundry, bike rack ... Oh, yes. I changed all the p &
